February 14th is around the corner so if you need some easy watercolor Valentine’s Day tutorials, I’ve got you!
Here are three easy tutorials with video instruction to help you paint something for your loved one.
Tutorial #1: Valentine’s Day Heart with Pink and Purple Leaves
This tutorial combines everything that I love: hearts, leaves, and a color gradient! This tutorial can easily be any color scheme you want. Go from red to pink. Or blue to green. Blue to purple! The possibilities are endless. And if you enjoy painting flowers, add some in there too. No need to limit yourself to just leaves. But I hope this sparks some inspiration.
Tutorial #2: Watercolor Sweetheart Candies
Does anyone actually like the taste of these sweetheart candies? Blech, I don’t. BUT painting them is a lot more enjoyable! For this design, I painted a number of hearts in various colors. Some of them I even painted in gold! Notice how some of the hearts are touching each other and the paint is bleeding. This effect makes watercolors so unique. Play around with those effect for yourself.
Then after the paint layer is dry, I used colored pencil to outline some of the hearts, give it a 3-D look, and wrote the phrases. Which phrases would you use if you did this tutorial?
Tutorial #3: Watercolor Valentine’s Day Cookies
This one is especially fun especially if you enjoy sweets! Think of your favorite cookies or frosting flavors, and combine them in this arrangement of round and heart-shaped cookies. For this tutorial, I also used colored pencils, gold paint, and a white gel pen to add texture and details. It’s okay if you don’t have any of these supplies. Just use what you have!
Thanks so much for checking out these Valentine’s Day tutorials! I’d love to see your watercolor Valentine’s Day cards.
